One of the highlights of any festival are the impromptu performances by musicians who meet and jam together for pure enjoyment. Bogstomers with Dan Brown From Foxfire Energy performed at Vermont’s Solarfest on July 11, 2009, next to American Flatbread and Ben & Jerrys. Middletown Springs, VT. Recorded by LoveEarthAlways Solargroupies. Be sure to put on your mountain shoes and turn it up!
LoveEarthAlways Solargroupies were ready with cameras for the July 10-12 Solarfest in Middletown Springs, Vermont. Listen to Mozart, watch carefully, and you will see Amy Goodman from Democracy Now, entertainers including Rick Davis, Jennings and Ponder, Puppet Pageantry and others performing in the Vermont sun. Food vendors included Vermont’s finest including American Flatbread with their wood-fired copper ovens and Ben & Jerry’s premium ice cream. All electric power was supplied by the sun!
To many people global warming is exaggerated eco-bunk, a hoax or or liberal nonsense. We know that Exxon-Mobil and others have funded climate change denial groups and supported lobbies that perpetuate fraud when it comes to wel-established climate change data and models. Why would oil companies support climate change denial?
Consider Upton Sinclair’s quote, “It is hard to get a man to understand something that his livelihood depends on him not understanding.” Dirty energy corporations like Exxon-Mobil have incentive to slow the pace of renewable and sustainable energy, since they see it cutting into their profits and livelihoods. And with tens of millions of dollars in lobby money funneling into Congress, the climate denial groups can be quite convincing!
Consider this: Tens of thousands of the world’s independent scientists, people who have no axes to grind, no enormous paychecks and benefits packages to protect, have concluded, that global climate change is impacted by humans. In fact, the computer models have shown for 20 years that climate and weather are chaotic and dynamic systems. Change something here and that can lead to several very unpredictable changes over there. Independent organizations such as NOAA have concluded that we are now experiencing unprecedented ice melting sea level rising, growing season changes, migrations, and this is only the beginning. This will create cataclysmic problems for humanity. Even if there is a chance that the tens of thousands of scientists are wrong, however, there is ample reason to do everything we possibly can to stop climate change immediately.
To illustrate why, Greg Craven plays out a devils-advocate dialog in his short video called “Where It All Ends” in describing the logic of doing nothing because we may not be convinced it is real versus taking action, whether it is real or not. He also concludes that since the two largest, most presteigious and respected scientific organizations in the world have issued statements saying human-induced climate change is real, that is good enough for him. Finally, he says that it really isn’t global warming that is happening, it is global climate destabilization that will lead to an apocalypse on many fronts.
