The famed Lake Champlain Monster, “Champ” was perhaps first sighted in 1609 when the lake’s namesake, explorer Samuel deChamplain, reported seeing a large serpent animal swimming in the lake. Since then, dozens, if not hundreds of people have reported seeing an enormous creature in the lake. Many have taken photos and there have been some grainy videos examined as well. Now that high quality photography and videography technology is becoming common place, it was just a matter of time before we would see high quality images that could put the question of Champ’s existence to rest.

On Sunday March 31 at 5:30 am, perhaps that happened. As the videographer said: “I shot this video (with cellphone) of SOMETHING in the lake at Oakledge Park (Burlington, Vermont) on Sunday (05/31/09) early am (0530 or so). Was anyone else out and about around Oakledge on Sunday just after sunrise who saw this as well?”
